SmartShield manufactures super-flexible silicone cable sleeves that can be exposed to molten steel, aluminum, and glass at temperatures that can reach 3000F (1650C) lots of times without damage. The sleeves are made to shed molten metal that splashes on them and minimize the amount of heat that passes through them. They are made of incombustible knitted E-type fiberglass yarns through a diagonal chequered pattern that has 5 mm air gaps every 3 mm, to insulate thermal energy and allow self-cooling and flexibility.
Then they have a thick red silicone rubber coating which is very efficient heat and fire insulation. When exposed to flame, the silicone rubber layer zips up and forms a non-pointed tough SiO (silicon dioxide) crust above the burning area. This adds a refractory barrier of protection, ensuring hoses, cables, and steam lines are not damaged in high-temperature areas. This transformation will also prevent burns to the person working with it, and will create a refuge for the cable or hose from thermal energy losses; and unquestionably suitable for extremely hot arduous industrial applications.
